An animated video demonstrating the path light travels through an exploded view of the Visible/Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) sensor. The VIIRS sensor payload launched aboard the Suomi NPP remote sensing weather satellite on Oct. 28, 2011. Raytheon also built and manages the Common Ground System (CGS) which processes and disseminates the data from the NPP satellite and payloads.
