Two lioness' hunted this waterbuck, brought it down for two cubs to feed on which you can see here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/rowanhick/5278389701/in/set-72157625518199715/). This happend 10-15meters in front of us in Lake Manyara, it was incredibly intense as we were in an open top Safari vehicle, without a monopod I couldn't hold it still, but you get the idea.
looks like they might have broke his back

@metsdudenj i would guess it's either a "play dead" sort of instinct, or else it's just in shock. it is sad to watch, though..

Why did you stop filming? Why didn't you film the rest of the process of the lioness making sure her cubs had food and the cubs eating the waterbuck? Why stop? You could have had a great video here.

it still amazes me that some of the larger hooved prey don't fight back as some are equipped with size and serious horns that could do some major damage. i often wonder what a 2,000lb spanish fighting bull(some who i've seen puncture a car tire and actually lift the car over a foot off the ground) would do against a lion? they have a nasty temper not like say a wildebeest or impala that rely on flight.
