-Part 4-
Richard M. Nixon Remembered (1994)

This segment of the documentary features a clip from the funeral of former First Lady Pat Nixon in 1993, a short part of an interview with Nixon discussing the need to seize the moment after the Persian Gulf War and the fall of the Soviet Union to create a lasting peace, part of a Nixon speech from the early 1990s about opportunity and the American Dream, comments by Bill Clinton and ordinary Americans on Nixon's death, footage from Watergate hearings in 1974, and part of Nixon's funeral. Also included is a voice over interview fragment with Nixon's daughter Tricia, in which she laments that he never knew how many people adored him.

This documentary is a compilation of television clips from the days immediately after President Richard Nixon's death in April 1994. Scenes from his funeral (at his Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, California) are interspersed throughout the program, as are remembrances from those who knew him and from regular Americans. Also included are film footage, interviews, and photographs of Nixon.

  • pres. nixon was my commander in chief, when i was a soldier in 1974. i l loved him then and i love him still, great man ,great statesman.

  • I am an Australian and I always find it amazing how many Americans there are that criticise what is quite possibly your greatest President ever. There are very few Presidents that accomplished as much as he did, and there is none that had a better understanding of Foreign policy. I wish the modern world had leaders as insightfull and itelligent as him. A truly great leader.

  • @CARLTON8421 Greatest president ever? Secret bombings of Laos and Cambodia (illegal under US law) that contributed to the rise of the Khmer Rouge? Implementing the HMOs while explicitly acknowledging they're geared towards less health care and more corporate profit? Funding the overthrow of the democratically-elected government of Chile in favour of the most brutal dictator in Latin America? Abusing power to order IRS audits of political opponents? "Great leader"? Really?

  • @PIAF22 Don't generalize. I'm a Democrat and I believe that history has gradually become kinder to Richard Nixon, and deservedly so. When I think of his legacy, I don't focus just on Watergate. I think of his ending the Vietnam War, his trip to Communist China, removing the draft, efforts in Civil Rights, ERA, and negotiating arms control with the Soviets. I also value a man who (unlike many Republicans and even some Democrats) had very humble roots and never forgot them.

  • Watergate is overblown by the liberals to sully the name of this great man, and to lower him as if he were a common criminal. Few men have ever devoted so much of their life to the benefit of this nation, and it's absolutely unbelievable that President Nixon can be simply condemned for one act, while his contributions go largely unnoticed.

  • @CARLTON8421

there is no doubt that many aspects of his presidency were paradoxical

  • President Richard Nixon Tape #697-29

Nixon: “A majority of people in Colorado voted for abortion, I think a majority of people in Michigan are for abortion, I think in both cases, well, certainly in Michigan they will vote for it because they think that what’s going to be aborted generally are the little black bastards.”

    Nixon Tape 700-10

Nixon: “… as I told you and we talked about it earlier, that a hell of a lot of people want to control all the Negro bastards.”

  • @devilndeepbluesea God bless you! Glad to see people like you on a hateful website like YouTube!
