New Silent Hill and commentary footage from the Konami E3 2010 press conference. They should hopefully have an official video up soon if you can't take the quality from their live stream, but this includes the comments from the Vatra Games developers.

Some important information so far includes:

Scheduled release for 2011. Protagonist's name is Murphy Pendleton. Game will be third-person. There is not as much combat as Homecoming, but there is combat. Weapons include anything you can find, like wooden planks and such a la Origins. There will be "sidequests" that change depending on your playstyle. Akira Yamaoka is not composing the soundtrack. The new composer is Dan Licht of Dexter fame.

  • @Rich24ok Didn't Akira Yamaoka do the music for every Silent Hill, or am I just being dumb? Honest question, no sarcasm intended.

  • @CrazyandDippie Yes, Yamaoka as been the music guy (not sound - music) for every Silent Hill until his recent departure from Konami and his hiring at Grasshopper Manufacture. He is now composing the music for their upcoming game. Silent Hill: Downpour will be the first game with music composed by Dan Licht. You can hear a sample of his work for the game in a related video.

  • So that's why they never improve...The new Konami team all thinks about of Silent Hill being "scary" but that's not the real nature of the game...Silent Hill's about people's regrets in their life's and the delusional karma turned monsters representing each and one of these people's regret..It's a game where the main character's lives/past is being driven...It's a game of history..SILENT HILL!..

P.S...We want the old Silent Hill Team back!

  • @Munenori015 Now Resident Evil became a stupid action game, and Silent Hill became this running game. One meets good opinions about Shattered Memories, but the only thing that's mentioned as positive is the psychologycal analysis... if I wanted that I'd visit a doctor not play a game, thank you. This game should bring back the action from like SH 2 but stay belove SH 3 that was way too much... little blonde girls don't carry around arsenals, but a gun and a rifle is nice to have.

  • The latest silent hill game (I mean shattered memories) shoved that the game took a course that I didn't really like. Ok the whole psychology stuff is cool, but no weapons? What the hell was that? No bosses, no epic fights, only silly running. It made the game boring! Not hard, boring. I never killed every single enemy I didn't even do that in the previous Resident Evil games that's why they are... I mean... WERE survivor horror games. You had to be careful with what you had, not to waste it...

  • i wanna play,,,,, @_@

  • He didnt say PC wtf man!!??

  • I cant wait to play it!!!

  • I think one of the monsters should be devin Shatski chasing you around with his death stare XD

  • do konami now only have one generic 'male hero' face ?

  • To be honest Silent Hill has changed a lot since the first 3, but that doesn't change the fact it's still Silent Hill, and it's always going to be Silent Hill. It has that aspect to it that's always worthy of respect. I understand that the game has changed from Psychological Thrillers that really tested the will of a person with their regrets and having to repent for what they've done, but the stories are still properly designed and there's nothing like a Silent Hill game, no matter what.

  • @mrpositivethinker Hey, 4 is good. It may not of been intended to be what it is, or have the title it did, but it still had an amazing aspect of psychological thriller and repent to it. It isn't nearly as bad as Shattered Memories, or Homecoming. An also Origins is good in itself, there's nothing wrong with that game either. >...<
