(LYRICS WITH TRANSLATION) A rare but very beautiful song in young Lata Ji's sweet and melodious voice - a grievance to God on the dilemma of children due to regional conflicts and terrorism, from the movie "Maan Ka Pyaar", (1949). The captivating composition by Music Director Pt. Gobindram and enthralling Lyrics by Ishwar Chandra Kapoor.
THE LYRICS WITH TRANSLATION ARE:

"A CRY OF THE CHILDREN"

Tu ne jahaN bana kar ..... ehsan kaya kiya hai
(O God!) by creating this world, which favor YOU have done to us?)

Bas khelney ka apney.... Saman kar liya hai
(You have created the goods for your playing)
Bas khelney ka apney.... Saman kar liya hai

ehsan kaya kiya hai

Tu ne jahaN bana kar...... ehsan kaya kiya hai

Lekan terey kheloney ..... ansoo baha rahey haiN
(But, Your toys are weeping with tears)
Sun ley pukar unkii ...... tuj ko bula rahey haiN
(Please listen to their moan, they are calling You)
Marney ki arzoo mein .... Kab tak koii jiya hai
(In the pursuit of dying, how long one can live?

Gar teri yeh hi khahish.... Hum mooNh se kuchh na kehtey
(If this is Your only wish, that we should not grumble)
Jo naach tu nachata .... Wooh naachtey hi rehtey
(and dance as You desired and continue dancing, then
Matti ke boot banata ..... yeh dil kiyuN de diya hai
You should have made us mud-idols, why have You given this heart?)

Tu ne jahaN bana kar ..... ehsan kaya kiya hai
(O God!) by creating this world, which favor YOU have done to us?)
ehsan kaya kiya hai ..................................

  • In fact this video is so good that I have emailed this video to UNICEF at New Delhi with remarks that '' I consider it worth presenting to UNICEF to be used for promoting the cause of children''

  • A masterpiece of music. A superb blend of voice of lataji , music and poetry. Rest assure that during World War-II the Sub continent produced such vocalist who are no more less than the great leaders. They conveyed their expression to the listeners with success. Thanks for this upload.

  • I have no words, only tears. We should be grateful we have grown up as far as we are.I feel more than ever that Man is his own natural enemy, not even sparing innocent children. How very fitting is your choice of music and images, like always.

What a pity the world is still not at a stage where this kind of video would sound and look old-fashioned.....I wonder what the UNICEF said.....
