The Peoples Health Illustrious Alumnus program honored John Butler, its fourth Illustrious Alumnus, on Saturday, October 16 during the LSU Tigers game against McNeese State. A Peoples Health Illustrious Alumnus is a graduate of Louisiana State University age 55 or older who demonstrates the value of their LSU education through a history of civic and personal achievements.
Butler graduated from LSU in 1969 with a degree in Liberal Arts. Through his LSU education, Butler learned the importance of applying oneself to compete in a competitive world. He says that LSU prepared him for a top graduate program where he earned his Ph.D.
Today, Butler holds the Marion West Chair at The University of Texas at Austin and is director of the Institute for Innovation, Creativity and Capital. He supports LSU through service on the Alumni National Board of Directors.
