Kristina Harrison-Naness
Born: July 17, 1971
Hometown: Burbank, CA
Horse: Rociero XV (13-yaer-old Pura Raza Espanol stallion; Owned by Margaret Carrera)
Kristina Harrison-Naness of Burbank, CA saw a tape of Rociero XV and knew she wanted him in her barn. Standing smaller than most of his competitors and relatively unique in the U.S. due to his breeding (he is Pura Raza Espanol), Rociero never noticed that he was different than his competitors. The 13-year old stallion has answered every question asked of him and is excelling at the highest level.
Highlights of the combination's 2007 campaign include a third-place finish in the Grand Prix Championship at the 2007 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Dressage Festival of Champions and second at the CD13 Oldenburg in Germany in November. The pair continues to produce impressive results in 2008 with two third-place finishes at the CDI-W Burbank and two wins at the CDI13 Del Mar, both held in California.
Harrison-Naness topped the field of 13 horse and rider combinations to win the USET Intermediate I Championship with Kantor at the won the 2003 Bayer/USET Festival of Champions presented by State Line Tack. The championship also served as the Cosequin/USET Selection Trials for the 2003 Pan American Games in Santa Domingo. The pair went on to be part of the gold medal-winning effort in the Dominician Republic.
Harrison-Naness has been riding since the age of six, when she got her first pony. Her love of horses continued as she got older, and she began showing in the junior hunter division, as well as equitation classes. In 1987, she qualified to ride in the ASPCA Macalay Finals.
In 1992, she discovered dressage and rode her former hunter, Gilligan, in dressage classes progressing to the advanced young rider level. In 1999, she purchased Kantor from Carol Plough and continued her dressage education.
Currently Harrison-Naness operates a training stable, Angeles Farms, at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. She and her husband, Howard, have a six-year-old daughter, Rison.

This horse is not in hyperflexion- he is at the verticle, not behind. It is a beautiful test. The double bridle is used to finess the aids; anything misused can be cruel, you can't say that the bits need to be changed just because they have been used wrongly. Although somethings with modern dressage do need to be changed, I think that your topics are not among them.

just in case you are curious...this horse rides in a broken snaffle on a daily basis and still willingly flexes and stretches his neck
