@ToolsnFire These are the shortboards of 1966/1967. In the US the vast majority of people will still riding 10 footers with plenty of area...these are radical in comparison.
The shortboard is an invention through nessecity, trial and experimentation. What you see in this film depicts the beginning of the transition era. The Involvement School

You really had to be there to understand. I was, and I was lucky. Grew up in the 60s and lived in the water....Avalon beach on Sydney's northern beaches....paradise and an outstanding life it was....Still is, but that's a different story!

I took off on first wave in 1966, I was 8 and I still remember how I moved foward on the board and the thrill of sliding down the face.

longboarding and shortboards are two different sports. Longboarding is more difficult to master but worth the effort for the superior style. Shortboarding will die out in time.
