Just learning garageband and figured out how to post with video! FINALLY!! Sorry for the distortion here and there. I am only a year into learning the guitar and this is the first time I have played with an amp! Wow, that is very different in a sensitive way!! LOL!

I love this song. I think Peter Sinfield's lyrics are absolutely incredible, magical, mystical. He was quoted as saying his desire of images were to be art nouveauish. I love his poetic style. The vocals for the song are originally performed by Greg Lake who was a member of King Crimson for a while until he left for Emerson, Lake, Palmer, another favorite group of mine. Greg's vocals on this song are absolutely perfect. Nothing is better than that. Interestingly. Peter wanted this song to be undersung. Sweet, soft, warm and fragile were his words. He said that in today's society most things are over driven in terms of emotional delivery. It was a challenge for me to pull back, and I don't think I came close to what he was intending. I love this song, nonetheless. I hope you get a sense of the artistry within this song.

I also apologize as the chords for this song are incorrect. All sites posting chords for this song are incorrect and I am frustrated that I am such a beginner that I don't know the correct ones. This is only somewhat close to the original.

Lyrics:

Call her moonchild
Dancing in the shallows of a river
Lonely moonchild (other sites post this as "lovely", but Greg sings "lonely")
Dreaming in the shadow
of the willow.

Talking to the trees of the
Cob web strange
Sleeping on the steps of a fountain.
Waving silver wands to the
Night bird's song
Waiting for the sun on the mountain

She's a moonchild
Gathering the flowers in a garden
Lovely moonchild
Drifting in the echoes of the hours. (My favorite line)

Sailing on the wind
In a milk white gown
Dropping circle stones on a sun dial
Playing hide and seek
WIth the ghosts of dawn
Waiting for a smile from a sun child. (my other favorite line).

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING! min:-)

  • This was indeed a pleasure for me to listen to first thing in the morning. For a year of playing, you sound like you are well on your way. Lovely voice. Hope to hear more.

  • @swans1997 Thank you very much for your kind words and your encouragement. You are a generous soul! min :-)

  • Tha't CRISP sound. not, criso. bad typo.

  • @kevnote :-)

  • Just love to know what guitar your playing??? has a nice criso sound for an electric walking the "acoustic" turf. And youf voice IS both beautiful AND haunting. Definitely keep at it. Will enjoy hearing more posts from you. Keep up the quality work. The guitar will come with time. Your voice is already mostly there. And yes, Peter Sinfield is a one-of-a-kind lyricist and writer. He has a very cool website, if you haven't already examined it.

  • @kevnote Thank you, it is a Taylor T5. Hybrid electric/acoustic. I am only learning the guitar and what seems like a snails pace. Still, I absolutely love my this guitar. It doesn't sound good when I play it, HA HA HA, AND, seriously, it does sound better with a pick. I only finger pick and so don't do this amazing guitar justice. Not sure I ever will, but nonetheless, thank you soo much for your kind words and love of PS! Yes, I have checked our his site. You are kind to mention this :-) min

  • Wonderful! Your reading of the song is innocent and childlike and exactly evocative of the song's lyric. I love this song, and love that you're so hep as to have chosen it to be one of your first public efforts. Brava!

  • if you would, FB friend me @ Kevin D. Farmer (the one in Lansing, IL)

  • 'm working on putting together a little Crimson cover band project, ala 21st Schzoid guys, but sans actual KC members. 8-(. But the key element for my VERSION, so to speak, is getting Mellotron software. That was the kicker for my 1st hearing them, as George Lucas loved to say, a long, long time ago That icy yet intensely emotional, errie thing. As far as playing is concerned and progress, you reach plateaus and it seems like forever, but then a magical breakthru will happen... Well worth it.

  • @fed71 LOL! Yes! I am a total beginner on the guitar and agree it would sound better if my fingers could go faster. Thank you for listening! min :-)

  • @Lodlac Thank you! I appreciate your kindness and your thoughts! I am thinking of covering From the Beginning, by Greg Lake and maybe if you are a KC fan you are into ELP too? :-) Anyway, I am still practicing that one. Mr. Lake is soo amazingly talented and I am a newbie playing the guitar so not sure when it will even be a recognizable tune. LOL! Thanks again, for listening! min :-)

  • @tomerefrati Thank you for taking time to listen and comment. Means a lot! min :-)
