  • I was Adam Faith's paper boy in the 70s

  • @carspete123 The all important paperboy, eh. An honour I'd say and I'm sure he was most grateful.

  • The shortness of the song is one talking point. another is the affected Jewish accent which cheekily matched the lyrics playing a big part in making the song bigger than it would otherwise have been. Put a smile on all our faces then.

  • "affected Jewish accent"!!!? Not to my ears.

  • theres only one adam faith he had a voice of his own and was also a good actor

  • Ich bin gerade auf der Suche nach einem bestimmten Liede, aber dieses ist es nicht...

  • I was 15 when this hit the charts and I was wowed by the lyrics , persona of Adam and the recognition I was in a priviledged time in human history: full employment , peace, personal freedom to make choices, music from many sources etc.

  • so proud of my grand father for writing Adam Faiths songs! Still living at the age of 80!!

  • I was only a little girl when this was a hit but I loved this guy so much. Years later I know why I preferred him - appealing voice, memorable songs, bright as a button, convincing actor and gorgeous looks. Say no more. Much missed.

  • What pisses me off is here in the States I never heard of Adam Faith, Cliff Richard, and so many other great UK stars. The groups, yes. Not these guys, and I listened to the radio all the time in the 60's. Thanks to YT. I discovered them here last year and can't get enough.

I wonder why they weren't played here? What a crime.

  • @bathsideboy He's copying Anthony Newley's singing style. Bowie commented on it and said he did the same thing.

  • @richmondie I grew up with a lot of Jewish friends and that is NOT a "Jewish accent"

  • I love this :-)

  • When he recorded What Do You Want (also by Bobby Vee and Ersel Hickey) He was told to pronounce baby as Ba-beh to get the Buddy Holly sound. The entire song was based on It Doesn't Matter Anymore, the Buddy Holly sound and the pizzicato strings. He had a daughter also. POOR ME also featured the Buddy Holly Sound. There was no Jewish Affectation; he was studying acting and had made some movies in the U.K., he learned elecution and was pronouncing the lyrics clearly and distinctly. Joe
