I set my spd-s up sometimes to play on and I have sampled some kits from my td-20. It saves the hassle of setting my full kit up just to break it down again for a gig. So here is me messing around on it.

Here is a link to all my sounds:

  • heY Mr Stixx

    Nice Rythm abilities

    I just bought a KD 8

But How do you assign a sound from the SPD s to the Kd8 and eventually to the FD8 too if you know :)

I'm not being able to do that

    thanx for ur help

  • You assign the sound on the kd8 the same way as you assign on the pad, just strike the KD8 when you are assigning your sounds to select it. Dont think you can do this though with the FD8 since its a controller, not a trigger.

  • Is it possible to connect a bass drum trigger pad to the spds pad, without using any other device like a module? Will it play my e-kick pad or trigger of the sounds i feed into it or its own samples? Just asking if i could use this with just a bass pad for live performance for triggering my kick without having to carry a laptop or a module. Thanks.

  • Im actually using a Roland KD-7 BD trigger in this video. It connects into the back of the spd-s and it plays the samples from the module ( which ever you assign to the BD trigger ). So the answer is YES. Not only would could you use this for your BD but you end up with a sample pad which will extend your kit setup for percussion or whatever sounds you want.

  • -'back of the spd-s and it plays the samples from the module'

ps by module, I mean the spds'

  • hey man i just got the spds i download the kits u use but my problem now is i cant get them on the memory card i did formatted with the spds and i dont know where to copy the files i read in the manual the root file but i tried all of them and i still get empty when i insert the memory card in the spds if u could help me i will appreciated big time thanks

    ALmix

  • Place my files into the root folder of an spd-s formatted CF card. Once thats done you need to import them into the spd-s and choose a location for the files. You can import them to the spd-s or to a space on the CF card, just press the card button during the import process. Once imported, you can set up your patches.

Let me know if you need more help

  • Hi MrStixx! Just got an SPDS myself a week ago.

I've downloaded all the kits from your link and put them on a Compact flash card. The Vpro kit works perfectly, but all the other ones sound completely distorted. I can play all wav files fine on my pc though. Do you know what I am doing wrong? Any feedback would be great, since I LOVE these samples!

  • thanx Mr Stixx,

  • nice video.

  • Nice playing. Do you still have a link to the samples you are using? I just bought one of these pads, and I'm trying to get it set up.

  • tenes algunos sonidos para que me envies

  • WOW really awsome! Where can i get these Samples? They sound really goooood. I'm going to buy a Roland SPD-S the next Days as an practise Kit. Do u think it will work with an additional Snare Pad, a Bassdrum Pad and the Footswith for the Hihat? When u play the Ride, is the Bell from hard hitting or do u press the footswitch to change the Sound of the Pad?

    Greets

  • where can you go and upload samples? And how much would i have to pay if there is a price?

  • Hey man thanks a ton. This helps a lot. :)
