My father made one of these,a good tip is to put 2 chickens,even 3 at one time so there is less movement with each chicken.
Very cool contraption indeed.

@flavahbeast We have been raising and butchering our own chickens for years. If you ever get a chance to have fresh chicken you will never eat the swill from the supermarket.

... Are you fucking serious? Someone killed the chicken, sold it, got a better life.
Someone bought the chicken, wizbanged it, ate it, got a better life.
Eat some chicken too.

Wow, that's a nice sized chicken. Excuse my ignorance, but what is the water spraying for? Is it easier for the rubber to grip the wet feathers?

@slapurmommaz The water cleans the chicken, lubricates the fingers so they slip on the skin so it doesn't tear, and it washes the feathers down to a single collection point.
The chicken was about 9 lbs. Not huge but nice size. The largest we have grown here on the farm was a really big guy. He was 15.3 pounds fully dressed.

@stanb999 Thank you for the reply..I haven't looked yet, but do you have a vid of how to clean out the inside of the internal organs?

@slapurmommaz
I havn't seen any myself. I suggest you get a book. It is how I started.
Amazon has it. It's called "Basic Butchering of Livestock & Game" by John J. Mettler JR., DVM

That doesn't beat up the meat too much???

@KallyJones No not at all. In fact if you've been eating store bought chicken all the chicken you ever ate was done in a mechanical plucker.
