A Drum Major for Justice... A Drum Major for Peace... A Drum Major for Righteousness...

Remembering Dr. King, a man who lived and died for that one cause he believed in, that one cause he knew in his heart of hearts to be right as he fought for a better world. For him it wasn't about anything else but that promise that was bestowed upon this nation, that all men... that all people are created equal, and in that, in a motel in Memphis 40 years ago, his crumbled body laid on the floor, the ultimate sacrifice for that Promised Land he knew laid just over the horizon.

He understood of the fragile nature of freedom and liberty but he also understood that America was built on noble principles, amongst them that all men... all people... are created equal and that, amongst that, the rights endowed upon us by our Creator can not be given or taken by the powers of men but they are for each of us to live and die for. He understood that we had an incomplete understanding of what freedom meant, that our understanding, it evolved with the years, and he demanded we move forward together to a better world.

He would never see it but in that came the realization he wasn't just working for himself but for his children to grow up in a world different than he did, that all of our children might grow up in that world, and find peace in the limitless potential and possibility of this great and noble Republic, that we may all cash that check of of liberty signed so many generations before by our founders and carried forth as a torch of freedom unto a brighter tomorrow.

May he rest in Peace, free at last.
