Slide show of the old City of Oakland Fire Alarm Building. The building was constructed for the Electrical Department in 1911. Shortly thereafter, the location hosted the main receiver station for all the fire alarm boxes located throughout the City. The staff that work here were primarily electricians who doubled as fire / emergency (non-police) phone operators.
Viewers of this video who have specific knowlege of its operation are encouraged to leave comments. Additionally, I am currently seeking any photos of its interior during the time it was in active service. Feel free to contact me through youtube.
