Wow! I came across this video by accident. Brought back tons of memories, I've been up and down this road hundreds, if not a thousand times. My friends and I have been blasting up and down this grade since we got our first dirt bikes in the '70's. Got to where we could race up it blindfolded, then go fishing at Doanes Pond. The real challenge was the old logging road which is a few miles "left" of Nates. Good times.

I also did stanley peak from near orange glenn high school (other side off of citrus ave.) during the heat. Last august was actually too cold on the beach for surf fishing so I was doing some long walks around escondido.I'm not getting older, I'm getting better. Cheers from chilly Barcelona. c ya n august

I did it walking from pauma vally store last august up to the ranger station. I did the last few miles running down in the dark. The walk at night between the start of nigger nate grade to the store was suicidal. Other than that I racked up some milage. It's different walking than with a bike or car. I t was really enjoyable and peaceful.
