clay, did ya rebuild in emerald?.. pearl beach was about 60-70% gone, it took them 2 years, but they rebuilt it.. looked fine. our cabin survived due to a burned out cabin from the 50's pylons and brush, as a breakwater, beachside. but we sold it this year.. i miss the pelican, and meacoms.. coba's and theresas. decouxs had great drinks. the cafe for burgers, and donnays for croissant in the morning. i still cant believe anyone weathered it out, that was darwin at work.. period.
My grandfather's and uncle's cabins were on 4th street.....right across from The Dirty Pelican Peir. They are GONE....nothing but a concrete slab left. It was a horrible storm.....glad none of my family died!
We just had our slab/piers cleared off...4 months later and the peninsula still looks very much the same as your video..I hope you have gotten your insurance payments as everyone is still waiting! Good luck! Thanks for the video!!
Thank you for your coverage. I live in Beaumont and am happy to say I have a house stii, but I can't help but to feel the pain that these people must feel. Living in this area these are places that I have driven by millions of times. I can't believe it is all gone. Just last month my husband and I visited Galveston for the day. Now I'm glad we did get to see it all one last time. Thank you.
Thank you for posting this! I am living in Oregon and have been trying to see if my family's beach house (located in Holiday Beach edition) is still standing. It is (was) located right at the entrance on the last row before the HWY. I just cant believe there hasnt been more reliable coverage of Crystal Beach! That is until now...thank you so much!
