Baristas: Coming to FringeNYC 2010

Baristas, the award-winning play written by 22-year-old sensation Evan Twohy, makes its New York premiere at the 2010 New York International Fringe Festival this August, following its well-received debut as a selection of the Agnes Nixon Playwriting Festival at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL).

A robust blend of comedy, horror, and poetry, Baristas is the story of Camille and Ramon, two baristas who work in a pretentious coffee shop. Together, they quickly find the only thing that gets them through the lackluster workday is their mutual fascination with famous serial killer couples. As they retell stories of history's wickedest paramours, the baristas begin to fall in love⎯ but can their vanilla-latte romance compare to the passions of cold-blooded murderers? Baristas begs New Yorkers to question if love can thrive despite sterile environments, hectic schedules and the pressures of human existence.

Under the direction of Scott Weinstein (Murder for Two) and produced by Zachary Baer, Baristas will open shop this August at the Kraine Theatre, 85 East 4th Street, New York, NY.

The Baristas cast features Reggie Gowland, Kenner Bolt, Joel Sinensky, and Isabel Richardson. The Baristas team is comprised of 20+ college students and recent graduates, making it one of the youngest FringeNYC 2010 productions!
