Obama rejects Canada pipeline plan

The White House has rejected a proposal to extend a multi-billion dollar pipeline to bring Canadian oil to US refineries.

Stephen Harper, Canada's prime minister, says he is profoundly disappointed by the decision.

However, environmentalists had argued it will cause major problems for several states and labour unions say the project would create thousands of jobs.

I understand that people want to get off oil but were not there yet... Why would you stop this when America is hurting and in need of a economical boost... Our food is trucked across America trucks use diesel food is going up gas is going everything is going up do partly to fuel cost.. We are all going to pay for this poor decision ...

(PART 1) What you TOTALLY CLUELESS IDIOTS don't understand is that the pipeline is about 99.9% safer than oil tankers! It would allow our states drilling oil in South Dakota, Wyoming, North Dakota and Colorado to JOIN that pipeline and transport our own resources to Houston. It would have ELIMINATED almost ALL oil tanker rigs coming to America and would have STOPPED flooding money to the middle east and brought it back here!

Not only will the pipeline affect the Environment, but it seems a bit useless to build a pipeline that will be filled with the very fuel we need to stop using. We should focus on renewable sources of energy...not building a pipeline for oil, which will only prolong our use of it. And this is exactly what the oil companies want.
