I used the two "machines" trying to have the most comparable situation between them.
so I left (initially) ALL THE CONTROLS ON FLAT position:
- rotor/horn speed
- aceleration ramp
- horn/rotor balance
- mics distance
- overdrive OFF

for the Lex, I used the "full range cabinet simulation".
don't remember if I used the "front mics" or "rear mics" configuration in the Lex, but the one you listen to in the video is the one that most likely sounds similar to the Ventilator configuration (I tried with both of them and the other is definitely different, so the comparison would be not correct).
(but, the other mic configuration of the Lex sounds good too)

in this way the comparison is the most accurate possible.

Going on in the video I moved the drive, I tried the "reaction" of the cabinet simulation of both of them if I send an external tube preamp in, and I tried to use all possible drawbars settings (from 888 to full, with chorus or not).
Finally, I tested the mics distance, from the closest to the maximum.

So, any difference you can feel between the two machines depends on the machines, not on the settings adjustment, and that was the aim of the test.

they both sounds great!
great for guitarist, but leslie was made for organ.... or not?
:-))))))))))

  • Both of these are, in my opinion, the best sims you can buy, but I like the Ventilator myself.

    thanx to you for watching

  • The Ventilator is hands-down the better of the two--I can tell when it's on even without watching the video. Sounds like a real Leslie. Amazing.

  • I prefer the lex. Much better overdrive.

  • Great demo. in places, the Lex tends to emphasizes particular parts of the sound in such a way as to make it sound as if you're playing a slightly different chord on each.

  • I think the Lex is more open, the Vent is darker and have more mids, I prefer the Lex

  • Very good vid. I prefer the lex.
