  • Are tanning beds really that much of a risk if you don't use them very often? I live quite north where our sun exposure is quite low. I get the impression that I could safely use a tanning bed along with a fake tan once in awhile in the winter months without getting in much danger of accumulating dangerous levels of UV exposure. It would take a LOT of tanning to get even close to what people near the equator, southern U.S. or Australia get in UV exposure. Like all things, moderation!

  • Even using tanning beds once in a while is dangerous. Some tanning beds can emit 5-10 time more UV radiation than the sun at its midday peak and it's much more concentrated because you are in a small space.

  • Nobody is saying say out of the sun period, derms are saying be sensible in the sun and avoid cancer coffins. And yes your doctor/ nurse is the person best equipped to advise you on how long it is safe to stay under the sun and in what conditions.

And take an immunology class before you go spouting off about the immune system. And no, the bs online diplomas they hand out in the tanning industry aren't worth anything.

  • When it comes to your healthcare, get your advice from your doctors not unqualified people in the tanning industry, most of who have no background in even the most basic science and aren't even remotely qualified to interpret an article in a scientific journal.

  • i find pale or tan to be attractive but personally i think if someone wants to go tanning, then fucking let them. you people here are so judgemental. if someone wants cancer, let them have it!!! i get the same shit for smoking and drinking from people like you. you all act like your thoughts should be pushed onto everyone else's personal lives.

  • to the person who said, "so glad im black"... so was Bob Marley who died of Melanoma. Your skin color does not save you from UV damage.

  • Tan is ugly. Whatever happened to women taking pride in their fair skin?

  • lol

  • Thats prolly the reason some people are racist is because they're jealous that you dont need to get a tan!

  • Dont tan EXCESSIVELY and you wont get cancer, in other words use your common sense.

  • so glad im black....
