Le 6 mars 1912, Adolphe Messimy prononce un discours devant l'Assemblée Nationale, dans lequel il récapitule son action pendant l'année 1911. Messimy a été Ministre de la Guerre entre le 27 juin 1911 et le 14 janvier 1912, au sein du gouvernement de Joseph Caillaux. Il était auparavant Ministre des Colonies dans le cabinet Ernest Monis (mars/juin 1911). 1911 voit d'ailleurs la deuxième crise marocaine, dans laquelle la France echange une partie du Congo contre le Maroc avec l'Allemagne. Messimy pense alors qu'une guerre moderne est evitée. Il ne sait pas qu'il est à la veille de la Première Guerre Mondiale, mais prédit quelle catastrophe serait pour la France une guerre moderne.

  • C'est vraiment la voix de Messimy, enregistré en 1912, pour les disques Pathé. Depuis 1900/1905, les disques 78 tours étaient aussi courant que les CD aujourd'hui, et il n'est pas étonnant que des personnalités des l'époque aient enregistré des disque =)
