Includes Cold engine idle, warm idle and a bit of revving to about 4500 RPM. I decided to create this video since my Vette now sounds quite loud thanks to the Cherrybomb glasspack exhaust and removal of the catalyst. The exhaust is basically stock. I think this is one of the most relaxing sounds for men who are into cars and machines :)

Engine: 5.7 L (350 cid) V8 L-48
Transmission: Warner 4-Speed Manual

My Corvette is generally in very good condition and it has already been restored once in USA some years before it arrived in our country. I got the car in a state where the exterior + drivetrain were fine, but the interior needed new carpet, some painting and several other components in order to look great. I'm now pretty much done with the interior. The engine used to have issues but those were mostly external (bad thermostat housing, bad spark plug wires etc.). By now the engine is a pleasure to drive, but the Rochester Quadrajet carburetor has hard time keeping the pre-selected idle speed and sometimes wants to hold it higher, then lower. It might be also some extra fuel leaking in from somewhere occasionally. There used to be some vacuum leaks but I've taken care of them. Perhaps I will replace the intake + carb with an Edelbrock setup for next driving season. The engine compression has been measured recently and the results were perfect for all cylinders.

NB! We will soon try to film the Vette from another car when driving on a motorway. I'm hoping to get some good footage that way.

  • What are the C3 Corvettes like for reliability seeing as they're getting on a bit. I can pick a clean one up in the UK for about ten grand but would want it as a daily driver.

  • @DisgruntledBrit Hi. Well, my car is very reliable so to say which means that there are no expensive repairs to be done - it just works. However, there are always some little issues you must expect anytime to happen. Coolant leaks, belt breaks, ignition messes up, carburetor needs to be tuned... the usual with any American car that old. This car is also prone to water leaks into cabin due to the T-tops and no-frame windows on doors. In California, why not. In UK - not the best daily driver.

  • @AcientMarine actually, that name was last used in '76. They are all still "Stingrays" up to '82, they just didn't use that emblem any longer (after '76). Stingray wasn't a preformance model of the Vette - just a name tag. This Vette orginally would have said Corvette on the rear. Wouldn't be my choice to put this emblem there, but that's what makes hot rodding fun - each person does the car the way they want it. Would be pretty boring if everyone did their car to original specs.

  • What camshaft and compression ratio are you running? ?..cuz it sound sick! !!! :)

  • Amen.

  • @speedbird1229 I'm looking for a c3 as a daily driver too, I always had old cars so I'm used to the little issues a Corvette can have. The only thing that could take me away from buying one is the fuel consumption, how much liters/100km does yours burn?

  • beautiful just tint windows dark and black out the lights and it would look PIMP

  • Lol who put the Stingray lable on a 1979er Corvette model??? Its wrong. The name has vanished after 1977.

  • @hawksleyart01 not even in american cars anymore, lol. that firing order died in 97 with the lt1. though i think some big blocks may have kept it a few more years. not quite sure about that. but those are just crate engines, so my point stands.

  • @speedbird1229 Yeah thinking now with our shitty British weather I'd probably get one for the summer instead and keep it snug in winter! Thanks for the advice mate!
