    More than that every intricate slash would was actually aimed at several points and areas that would severely maim or impede and opponent. this seems like a more advanced set of maneuvers based on attacking several times in the same area with the least amount of movement (i.e. pulling back to strike the same area again replaced with short wrist and arm movements which are just as damaging).

  • @FleyeOnTheWalll I'm by no means an expert but I believe the reason for the intricate slashing is two fold - makes for a cool demo, and in the form of a drill it helps one to memorize targets/techniques from which they could choose one or two to isolate and apply in a confrontation.

  • At least for me, having trained in the PI, where law is different than the lawhere in the US, the idea of "overkill" is the idea that I cannot assume anything. There are many arts that assume the one hit kill, but eskrima assumes nothing. Instead we adapt to the reality of the moment. As for court, well in the US, depends which state and who is your jury. Escalation is one thing, but in some states the very fact your responded could be viewed as escalation, whereas in others...
