One Killed, Three Injured In Kancil-lorry-trailer Crash At Federal Highway


PETALING JAYA, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- A man was killed while his wife and son were seriously injured when a Kancil was involved in a crash with a lorry-trailer at KM18 Federa Highway, near Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMCC ) here Sunday.

In the accident at 10.30am, Kancil driver Abdul Karim Abdul Aziz, 51, was killed on the spot.

Abdul Karim who was found stuck behind the steering wheel died of serious head injuries.

Petaling Jaya traffic police chief ASP Zulkafli Cheklah said the accident occured when the lorry-trailer from Klang heading for Kuala Lumpur lost control and smashed into the highway divider.

"The lorry-trailer went crashing to the other side of the highway and collided into a Kancil coming from the direction of Klang."

Zulkafli said during the acident, the two vehicles were on the high speed lanes and the weather was fine.



Abdul Karim's wife Maimon Said, 52 and son Mohammad Ihsan, 11, suffered serious injuries. They were helped out of the car by passers-by.

Lorry-trailer driver Khaw Ta Hin, 53, suffered serious head injuries.

The three injured were sent to UMCC for treatment while Abdul Karim's body was sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for a post-mortem.
