On March 2, 2011, four Wisconsin State Assembly members climbed out their windows, and set up their desks on the lawn to protest the lockdown of the State Capitol. They held office hours on the lawn, and met with their constituents in below freezing weather. During that period, a representative of the administration came out and tried to shut the office hours by claiming that the furniture, which belongs to the state, would be damaged. Rep. Peter Barca strongly defended their action, going so far as to offer his personal credit card to pay for any damages.
