After the earthquake in Chile, there was a tsunami warning in San Diego, where Syzygy was currently docked. The water in the marina rose and fell 1-3ft every 15 minutes or so for a couple of hours, rushing in at probably about 5 knots. The marinas around us didn't experience any damage, but some of those more exposed to the channel had issues - boats getting tangled in each others bow sprits, the concrete pilings on the docks shifting...

  • Nice video. I don't know anything about boating, but I could see how fast that duck was moving! That made me laugh, and it was a great illustration of how fast the water was moving.
