This is the first time I went hillwalking in 2012. Great to be back out. What looked like great weather with barely a cloud in the sky was actually bitterly cold in the wind. All the way up the hill I was buffeted by the wind. I had first climbed this hill in 1989 with my family and it has been quite a few years since I had been to the summit so it brought back some great memories. The summit itself has a huge cairn on top dating back to the bronze age. The practice of taking rocks from the bottom to the top has being going on for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years. I don't participate in this. I think it is largely discouraged at present. But its great to know the history of these ancient structures. On top of the cairn there is a view finder which I assume has been blown over. At first I didn't recognise what it was. I think the heavy winds we have had across the country in the past few weeks have took its toll on the monolith.

  • @Smith28Adventure Hi Smith, yeah the cairn is huge. The winds have died down a bit for a few weeks ago. Still windy on the hills though. Thanks my friend, take care.

  • Holy COW that is an awesome cairn. I love how people have made wind shelters into the sides of it, very cool. Have certainly been hearing about the crazy winds in Scotland on the news, stay safe out there Col!

Nice to see more vids Colin, glad you had a good new year!
