Mars: the desolate wasteland of purma (dune 9)
The iron duke of starbeam centre knew no fear. The streets were littered with abandoned hovercars, most of which had been commissioned as hog fodder In the agrarian wester pods as an after thought. Decimator guns were sought by alien hybrid and neo caster sergeants on velvet coated horses.
Only the hardiest sumpot gatherers refrained from shooting looters from the nebular region.
This gun was found there.

@MrTechnoman999 - Interesting question! I think every committed steampunk is either working on a book or seriously considering it and I am no different. That said, this particular prop was not inspired by any written publication, just my fanciful imagination and the pile of parts in front of me at the time.
