@DODPHOTOGRAPHY The generally accepted story (at least nowadays) was that Hugh Harman doodled a couple of mices on a photograph of Walt, back when Harman and Isling were working at the Disney Studios, making Oswald. Ub Iwerks was with Walt and Lilly on the trip, when Charles Muntz took Oswald from them. Then on the train ride back, they started talking and Ub remembered the picture of Walt with the mice. Lilly, taking great pride, decided on Mickey rather than Mortimer.
