Hello!

Jievaras is the most often mentioned tree in Lithuanian folk songs, especially the harvest songs of the southern regions. This dance originally was a game played during the Advent illustrating the idea of selecting a partner.

Mythological meaning of this dance and song is that every human have to pass the bridge as a part of cycle. Girls here are singing that they want to go to other side of the bridge, because that's were Christmas are coming from - from another side of river. Guys don't want to let them go so they're choosing a partner.

You can do more interpretations of this dance also.

Hope you like the dance!
