ZHANG:
Officials representing the Chinese regime went before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday. It was part of a human rights review that each country goes through every four years.
At the review, Chinese authorities said that they respect freedom of expression and denied censoring the media.
This was despite the fact that the regime has blocked domestic and foreign websites, including the New York Times and the BBC. The Foreign Correspondents Club of China has also reported 338 cases of violence and harassment against reporters since 2007.
Officials also said that the regime does not employ torture in its labor camps or detention centers--despite thousands of documented cases of torture of people of faith, dissidents, and ethnic minorities.
