E. Dewey Smith, Jr. is the senior pastor/teacher of The Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church -- The House of Hope, located in Decatur, Ga. Prior to moving to metro Atlanta, Pastor Smith served the Beulahland Bible Church in Macon, Ga. as senior pastor/teacher.
A native of Macon, Pastor Smith received his Bachelor of Arts degree in religion from Morehouse College in Atlanta, and has done graduate studies at the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse School of Religion. Smith graduated magna cum laude from Southern Christian University, Montgomery, Ala., with a Master of Science Degree. He received a Doctor of Divinity degree from The United Theological Seminary and Bible College, Monroe, La., and has completed postgraduate studies at the historic Oxford University in England.
E. Dewey Smith, Jr. commenced his preaching ministry at the tender age of 17 and his pastoral ministry at age 19. God has favored him by allowing tremendous and explosive growth to accompany his ministry. His first congregation grew from 48 to more than 3,000 members in 13 years. After faithfully serving at Beulahland, God elevated Pastor Smith to become pastor/teacher of The Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church in January 2004. In just a short time, the church's membership has quadrupled and now exceeds 7,000. Amazingly, in just his fifth year as its pastor/teacher, The Greater Travelers Rest was blessed to acquire a seven building (totaling 300,000 square feet), 55-acre campus, featuring a 7,000 seat Cathedral -- all for the glory of God!
Pastor Smith's Internet broadcasts are viewed weekly by millions around the world via StreamingFaith.com. He was selected as the "Up and Coming Broadcaster" of 2006 and the "Most Inspirational Person" of 2007 on the Streaming Faith network. Smith's works have been published in The African American Pulpit journal and he proudly serves on the board of directors of The Morehouse School of Religion (ITC) (Atlanta, Ga.) and The United Theological Seminary and Bible College (Monroe, La.). Additionally, he was inducted into the Martin Luther King, Jr., Board of Preachers at Morehouse College as a DistinguishedPreacher. He is married to the lovely Andrea F. Smith who is his best friend and the most influential person in his life. They have been blessed with two sons -- Kamari Elijah and Kylen Isaiah

  • HIS MIKE IS TURNED DOWN TOO LOW AS IF HE WAY OFF!

  • I would have enjoyed Greg's delivery more if the other two stopped drowning him out. I could not hear him for them. No one made any noise of anykind when the first two sang. Their mikes are turned up higher than his for some reason (wonder why)?

In the church, we do have our little ways!

  • This just goes to show that you do not need the "loudest mic" to be effective, just the annointing...My God!!!!

  • Call on jJesus, never busy never closed....our only hope

  • Greg you better sing the song boy. Boy you can sing

  • I felt that !! My, my, my ,my Glory!!!! I felt the anointing all over me. to God be the Glory, Lord I bless your name. Let me get off of here and give God some praise!!

  • u know I wrote to this church to ask for a cd or tape or something on the song "thank u lord" by the late Bishop Walter Hawkins, while they was at the old church and haven't heard from them as of yet

  • Glory to the name of God!! YES!!

  • even though Greg mic wasnt as loud the anointing was still there!!!

  • I'm in...nothing else to say...I'm in...
