After thinking the bamboo shower project was completed for the summer, I ended up figuring out a way to make a $35 solar hot water tank for our outdoor bamboo shower. These three videos demonstrate the innovations and adjustments that we had to make to bring hot water to our shower.

  • This is so frickin' awesome, dude! Thanks for sharing this with us, man!

  • Thank you for your kind comment

  • Sounds good but I'd be worried about the chemicals from the plastic leeching into the water in the heat. They could be absorbed into the skin.

  • Thanks. We would perfer a barrel but none are available.

  • You know what worked for me? The round rubbermaids trashcans, they seem more flexible, did you add rubber washers? I used the same facet you show (myself) but I recall using two rubber washers (one inside and outside the can). I had no leaks with that whatsoever, though I do forget what I used as a sealer. I believe it was "clear"

You'll have tons of fun, its no fun when its all done lol Its more fun when your never done because your always learning and improving on a thing.

  • It leaked out of the back in the bottom. I saw some really big sturdy trash cans that hold around 100 gallons that I thought I would use one of those. I used O rings and they did a good job of sealing the area around the faucet.

  • get 55 gal barrol one that is food grade kind and do it like the trash can and make some rain barrols to collect rain to water plants and other stuff like your channel 5 stars

  • Thank you for you kind comment and your suggestions. We are interested in water harvesting systems. The trashcan/water tank sprang a leak this past winter and we aren't sure what improvements we will get to make this summer.

  • I love you did I did the same for my garden after water harvesting. Also if you built a high (20 feet or higher maybe)structure which braces a tin roof you could harvest water from it guttering it to the trashcan itself. The trashcan being higher then the shower head would use gravity to deliver the water without a pump. I thought of being able (somehow) to "pulley" the water up to a sunny platform for both heat and better pressure. I love thinking this stuff out

    Great job your an inspiration
