Thanks for the great video! I am considering purchasing the Littlbug but am concerned about soot. How do you handle cleaning of both the stove and your pot in the field? It looks like you use an alcohol wipe in this video (in addition to the cloth), is that correct? Thanks in advance.

@eagleoutside Surprisingly you don't get soot on the stove itself, I suppose that has something to do with the height of the flame. Definitely get soot on the pot, but I just slide that into a pot cozy that contains it. No wiping involved!

I've been considering getting one of these for several summers, but have stuck with other stoves. This is the first time I've seen the vid and it's very informative. Doubt I'd ever use it with an alcohol stove -- why bring both? Also, I'd have like to get a better idea of the time it took to boil with the woodfire. Regardless, though -- excellent vid!

@chaddvanzanten hey thanks for stopping by. I like to use an alcohol burner in the morning. Get it going and tend to other camp chores for the few minutes it takes. I always end up spending a lot of time getting a fire going and tending it...that part overwhelms the time it takes to actually boil a couple of cups of water...but in the evening I like to have something to do. I'm doing another video soon going over the new chain attachment for suspending a pot over an alcohol burner.

Seems like a alcohol stove that you can set the pot directly on, such as a Super Cat would work well with this system.

Anyone wanting a great stove, extremely efficient and without smoke, should search for 'Biogas wood stove demonstration' on YT. Much better than this. Heavier and more expensive though.

Nice video. I have used a different wood stove for years and this looks more versatile. Thanks for showing the world. Too bad that it's expesive but you get what you pay for

That is downright clever. Lightweight, compact in the way it folds flat and it can burn wood scraps or alky.

I wonder it it was built with an upper and lower body could it be made to burn with almost no detectable smoke. I have seen other duo layered stoves burn so clean you could not see the smoke.

ok, here's an old forgotten campfire trick re: soot....wipe a thin layer of dish soap on the outside of the pot...it creates a barrier that helps keep soot to a minimum. For you environmentalist..I have no idea of it works with biodegradable 'camp' soaps you might take out hiking. Been a long while since I've used the trick. Going to check it out as soon as I get a chance to campfire cook (usually not allowed fires in the woods where I live or burning the wood for one).
