Yellow Dog Farm's Crown Affair and John French win the $10,000 Chronicle of the Horse/USHJA International Hunter Derby at Showpark Ranch & Coast in Del Mar, CA on May 14, 2010.
@sharkc08 That is because this is a Hunter Derby.. The judges ask you to do certain things, like for example, a second hand gallop, trotting to a small vertical, walking between hedge jumps, etc. And the reason why he was going fast at times, is because he was supposed to. The reason why he was galloping at 0:57, is because he was asking his horse to do that purposefully. That is what you call a second hand gallop.
BEAUTIFUL horse... but maybe its just me.. but he seemed to be a little fast at some points... but no question that hes a beautiful horse and that john french is an excellent rider
