The test was performed by simply turning our kitchen faucet on maximum hot water flow and standing 5 feet away from the water heater with the sound meter on my iPhone. The water heater sustained an average decibel reading around 50 dBA before it kicked in (left side of the blurred iPhone). The water heater peaked over 60 dBA past the 1:15 mark on the video (right side of the blurred iPhone). I confirmed that our gas line is 3/4".
