  • Is the the snatch balance like a power jerk while the drop is almost like a squat jerk? Having a bit of trouble understanding the difference between the two.

  • @MagicWonder425 The big difference is the initial placement of the feet and speed of movement. The heaving snatch balance starts with the feet in the squat position; the drop snatch starts in the jump stance.

  • @vibit7 The snatch balance is a precursor in the teaching progression to the drop snatch. It's a bit easier than the drop snatch because there is not much footwork to worry about. Sometimes a lifter is not quite ready technically for the drop snatch. The drop snatch however is closer to the the movement of the snatch from the floor.
