It is a beautiful hymn. I drove to Syracuse NY yesterday and went to Oakwood Cemetery Where Maltbie Davenport Babcock is buried. What a beautiful place. He and his family are buried together under a tall pine tree in Syracuse NY. I was so homered to come across his graveside. I felt a powerful connection there. It's amazing to me that his hymn is so popular. At the grave sight also stands a cross where he and his family are buried.

@byrdsmaniac it is a traditional English melody arranged by Franklin Lawrence Sheppard (1852-1930) and sung to the beautiful hymn of the same name composed by Maltbie Davenport Babcock (1858-1901).
