One of My Robotic Toys

Here is one of my favorite robotic toys. It's an rc rock crawler I built from the TXT-1 kit by Tamyia. I added a pneumatic knuckle boom/robotic arm just for fun. It has an on-board compressor, with bimba and dayton pneumatic cylinders. This was one of my funnest robotic projects to build. It can lift about 4-5 lbs.

I recently bought the domain http://www.automatedvehicle.com. Please advise me on any suggestions as to what I should do with it.

really great job....its amazing...but i would prefer to use electric arm instead of pneumatic for this kind of usage, or maybe hydraulics...but that is definitely gr8 :)

I agree, hydraulics would be a lot better. In fact, if I had the budget I would have used hydraulics. For the cost, pneumatics seemed to work fine for this little project. Thanks for the comment.

Hi, somebody just posted a question about whether or not this thing could hold a video camera. I accidentally deleted the comment. Instead of clicking reply, I clicked remove by mistake. But to answer the question, yes this thing should definitely be able to hold a video camera.

Wow! This guy is awesome! I have been working on similar plans to add a servo-based arm to a highly modified TLT crawler (sort of a mini version of the TXT), and in searching for inspiration, came across this video. Its making me want to rethink my own arm design! Would you be willing to share any more information (design plans??? :) I wouldn't know the first thing about going with pneumatics! Fun!

you need to rig it up so you can have a body on it and have the arm coming out of the bed

I am bulding an Rc project with a Pnuematic system for a peripheral too. Could you email me how you hooked up your compressor to the cylinders to make it co controllable please. I just want to be able to lift and lower, ie pump the cylinder for up and release and let gravity compress it.
