Tasty homemade pico de gallo is a simple way to add a flavorful kick to almost any meal.

To complete this How-To you will need:

1 ½ c. tomatoes, seeded and diced
¼ c. onions, diced
1 tbsp. jalapeños, diced
1 tbsp. garlic, minced
2 tbsp. cilantro, chopped
2 limes
Salt and pepper

Step 1: Combine ingredients

Combine the tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, garlic, and cilantro in a medium-sized bowl.

Step 2: Add lime juice

Squeeze the juice of two limes over the mixture, adding salt and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly.

Tip: To get the most juice, soften the lime by pressing down on it and rolling it over a countertop.

Step 3: Cover and chill

Cover and chill for up to four hours, or enjoy immediately for an instant treat. This recipe can be used for dipping, cooking, or as a garnish.

  • @otharennaur Yes in Mexico it is that recipe. But if you go to Madrid, it's a whole another recipe. There's no such thing as a "real" pico de gallo as there are many recipes as you said, same thing can be said about other salsas & dishes as well.

  • @aboubrad There's many recipes. The most common is Tomato, Jalapeños and Onion. No garlic, no Cilantro. BUT! most people only call it salsa. The real pico de gallo I know and everyone knows here in México is pretty much the same BUT, instead of Jalapeño, tomato an onion, it has Orange, Watermelon, Jícama, Cucumber, salt, lemon and "chile en polvo" (hot-pepper-tasting powder)

  • @otharennaur .....hi....if this isn't the real pico de gallo...then what is the real one? if the ingredients are different, then what are they? i would really appreciate it if you tell me....thank you

  • hey!!!!!!!it onions not garlic

  • Well done!

    Greetings!

  • u dont put garlic sorry

u guys are wrong on that!!

  • Oh, thanx, i know it's american version, =) but just wanted to say it's not the original pico de gallo

  • the grey pepper is mostly in american food. This an american version

  • o_O what? i don't understand....

but anyway, i've asked many friends in different states of my country, and seems like not even here it's the same recipe... they do it one way in monterrey, a different way here in jalisco, another in mexico city, and another in sonora... it's a bloody mess...
