We've applied Opti-Coat 2.0 on a windshield, just to see what the results would be.
Although it's not recommended to use it on glass, we couldn't let it untreated and are pleased with the first test results so far. To be continued.
Will have to wait for rain and then test it with higher speed on the German Autobahn ;-)

@01lexus You are correct. Opti-Coat is susceptible to abrasion, which it would inherently endure when wipers are wiping. As far as how long it would take to wear away, that is the ultimate question. Obviously it would not be indefinite like when applied to paint, but I think it would outlast anything else you would apply to the windscreen. You have to weigh out cost vs. efficacy when using something that wears away on glass. But Opti-Coat 2.0 is definitely the best paint protection.

@gmr19 They think there is a chance of optical distortion due to it being a permanent coating. I have heard of others using it on their glass.

I would think with the wipers constantly wiping against the coating it would wear off pretty quick.

I'm curious as to why you don't recommend applying this coating to exterior glass? Seems to be working well!!
