  • More like a 50 second boot up time. Your toshiba must be on steriods if it can pull off that feat.

  • Did you even watch the video?

The last 20s were it shutting down, the first 10 was the bios prompt and the rest was the boot up into the login screen.

BTW my eMac boots up within 20s too.

  • I think the timing needs to be clarified. As it is, listed at 20 seconds is more like a marketing time than what users would probably experience. I expect that most people would call "boot" as the following: from power on to when it is ready to use.

I have a Dell 745 with Fedora 14 on it running the MythTV frontend and from when I press the power button to when I get to the Myth menu it is only 35 seconds. So that includes the BIOS, the login and starting the application time.

  • @mrsbonus1 Seriously? Power on time for each computer would differ. Why would you include the BIOS post in an OS bootup when its something the OS can't control.

  • @PoweredOnReviews Yes seriously. I don't know about you but when I turn on my computer I have to wait for the BIOS. Also, I have defined what I think most people call booting as from when you press the power button to when it is ready to use.

  • @mrsbonus1 The boot time of the BIOS is not part of the boot time for the OS. So what if I have dual booting with 30 second delay, should I include that too?

  • @PoweredOnReviews You titled the video "20 second bootup". You didn't call it "20 second OS bootup". Change the name of the video if you don't want to include all the other parts of a system boot. If you want to stick 30 second delay in your boot sequence, do you have to wait an extra 30 seconds to get a usable system (assuming you don't touch it while it boots)?

  • Long live our Penguin!!!

Nice vid btw ;) Fedora is fast too, I see :p
