Can you kindly explain what the difficulties are in keeping this as a pet? I am very curious...

They can be very destructive to the house and furnishings as they play or claim everything as theirs. Anyone deciding to have one for a pet needs to be prepared to make them their own home/enclosure separate from the living area of the house should their destructive habits become more than they can live with. Spraying is normal for servals. Not all will start spraying in the house but a lot do. Servals take several years to fully mature and can start some bad habits later in life.

You could get one of those, but the upkeep on them is pretty damn expensive. I mean, you need to fill it up every week or so to keep it going, need to change out it's oil, and if you don't clean it often you get dirty looks from your neighbors.

Although I definitely believe you take the best care of this animal that you can, I still find it sad to keep an animal like this as a pet. He would be so much happier out in the wild where he has all the space he needs to roam over land, run for miles, catch prey, climb trees and what not. He deserves more than to be kept in a small, confined area just because of us humans feel the need to keep them instead of admiring them in the wild.

Thanks for letting me in on the real experience keeping this cat. I knew there was a catch.  Whencit comes to a pet, people keep sugarcoating everthing thinking they are being nice by doing that. I was so infatuated with this breed before reading your response. I know each cat is different but I see where you are coming from and I get the hint what it's like with this cat. Thks....
