A group of freelance scientists has discovered a cave painting in Tapti valley deep inside the Satpura mountain range in Madhya Pradesh. There is no known record of cave paintings in the Satpura range except about one at Pachmurhi. The group of scientists led by Dr. Vijay Ingole (vtingole@gmail.com) & (shirishkumar.patil@gmail.com) from Amravati comprising Mr. Padmakar Lad, Mr. Shirishkumar Patil, Mr. Dnyaneswar Damahe and Mr. Pradeep Hirurkar has been in search of such caves in other locations in Satpura range for the last 7 years. The newly discovered rockshelters are located on Madhya Pradesh and Vidharbha (Maharashtra) border in the Satpura range of mountains at about 350 mtrs above MSL. The mountain ranges of Satpura are parallel to Tapti river and to the south of Narmada river. They stretch from Chhatisgarh in the east to Gujrat in the west.
