As a recording artist and singer myself I can tell you he is really singing here. I tried what you said and confirmed my point as at time the tracks were lined up and then weren't slightly as happens with slight varied tempo with live performance like this. Peter is a true singer and doesn't need a recorded track.

Amazed! I keep putting on this song for background music, then I completely stop everything to listen.
Peter is a man who sings dreams and performs his heart out every night!
