Youth in Action 2009: Growin' Project - Growing Potatoes

When it comes to tyre growing, potatoes are the best plants to grow in this method. The reason for this lies in the way this plant grows. The plant will sprout and grow vertically, so whenever you add a tyre on top of the original one, it will just continue to grow and bare more fruit by sending out more side shoots.
At the end all you do is take apart the tyres and they will be filled with potatoes. Its amazing how much you can grow in such a small space. All soil that comes out of this method can be reused for other containers.
An inspiration given during the gardening workshop, held at the 5th European Youth Exchange, which took place from the 19th - 26th of July 2009 at the M.A. Center Germany.
