Get a good look at The Settlers of Catan on Microsoft Surface with this beta version that will be shown at GenCon Indy 2010. This multiplayer strategy game matched with the unique object interaction and social nature of Microsoft Surface makes for a digital boardgame like no other. The game was developed on Surface by Vectorform Game Studios in association with Catan and Mayfair as the official version of Settlers of Catan for the platform.

Really nice and amazing. But at $12,500, you need to make an affordable "Surface" for customers which connects to XBOX Live for multiplayer :-) If ASUS can make a 21" touch screen Windows 7 PC for $899, I'm sure ASUS could make a 30" tabletop system for $1,499.

It looks good development wise, but the actual machine doesn't seem to be able to handle the game all that well. It looks delayed and laggy for what is really just a simple board game. It is clearly bogged down by the sheer resolution of the device, scaling and all the other assets they showed in the video. They clearly need a more powerful gpu/cpu in the device.
