Here is another look at Metro 2033. I think this is my third or fourth video showing how hard the game is on hardware. I think I've finally won!!! I can now play Metro 2033 @ 2560 x 1600 under the highest settings. It isn't a slam dunk, but it is definately playable and I look forward going through the game again at these settings. No more 'smallish' 1920 x 1200.

My setup does and excellent job, and I am afraid no ATI setup can get the job done, not necessarily because the ATI 5000 series cards are not powerful enough, but the game was written for Nvidia.

Enjoy!

  • DOES 4 even work? i think GTX 480 can only do 3 way sli o..o

  • @quangluu96 It works.

  • @Trubyd44 i was running 3 way sli with my 480gtx, i found it ran worse apart from benchmarks, games ran worse. in the end i sold the 3rd gpu to my bro and went bk to 2 way sli, instantly much better, i was suprised to see id got my performance back. i think it was that id only got 1 cpu, its the 920 @2.8, probably not enough processing power and so i was getting bottleneck. i was told by many that 3way and 4way is a waste of time.

  • @nissan300bhp I've heard people say this as well...and although everytime you add a card it does cause diminishing returns, I have never seen performance go down. I promise, in all my experience...performance never went down when installing more GPUs. Do you use MSI Afterburner? Sometimes I've found when people experience this, one or more cards don't 'clock up' and they don't realize it unless they can see it in MSI Afterburner.

  • Those gpu temps are low for 480's.

  • I have a I7 980X @4.2ghz and 2 GTX 470 @800mhz core , Rampage 3 extreme mb, on a 27 inch. Screen @ 1920 x 1080 , maxed out settings getting about 20 fps more bud..your problem isn't your hardware it's the code the game is written with .. I know my resolution is alot less but I also have half the hardware you have ... Trust me ... The low frame rates are due to the Games ability to use your hardware efficiently ... Awesome Rig tho Bud !!!

  • @nissan300bhp ok, nice rig. i think with that you won’t be compromising with graphics settings for another 5 years and even then it will be to get 60fps+, so its all good.

  • @tnartey yip, 12gb, dont know what it was, this was over a year ago mind now. i just didint want the extra heat and noise the 3 gtx 480 made for the performance i got. i liked the idea of 3 way sli, but if i tried it again, i want the i7 980 6 core and 3 580gtx and upgrade the my ram to 2000mhz, but il most likey not bother now, i mean you can chase pc upgrades forever :-( anyhow my pc is very quick, i mean bf3 maxed out dx11 @1920x1200 im getting anywhere from 70+-120fps, skyrim same

  • @nissan300bhp thats how much you had when you 3 way sli? wow then im not too sure. oh well, as long as you're ok with the 2 way sli then thats fine.

  • @tnartey 12gb ddr3 tri channel 1600mhz

  • man sell all the 4 card and but the 6990 and lets done with it

  • all this i except for somthing like 300 fps wtf

  • @nissan300bhp the more cards you add to you system the more RAM you will need because when you use more then one card it does use all of the graphics card memory so if you are running 1, 2, 3 or even 4 it will still be using the amount of one graphics card. this is from my experience. how much RAM do you have because this guy has 12GB of RAM.

  • 60 is definitely playable but itsn't ideal :D
