To think that this beautiful piece of music was in a children's movie. CHILDRENS. MOVIE. You truly do not find such quality in todays children's movies.

Oh hey, I'm the first born of my family! Oh wait... x____x

I wonder... were Ramses' 96 children to make up for the one he lost here? Interesting psychological question there...

@Batben01 I want to cry.... that was so damn devastating in the movie

@Critias77 Right, well then just talking about the movie; You're right, God doesn't claim to be all-loving. But equally, he does claim to want the best for his people, hence the whole 'let my people go' idea. I'm pretty sure it's not good for his people to be hailed as bringers of plague, and heralds of death, yada yada. But sure, just in terms of the film, he's not TECHNICALLY doing anything wrong, although Christians probably shouldn't let their kids watch this.
-
@Critias77 In the case of the Babel fish, the assumption is made that without faith (belief without proof) Good cannot be, and any proof, therefore, disproves him. This is not the case in The Prince of Egypt. God clearly states that he is an interventionist God who will display his wrath if needed, and never claims to exist based on blind faith alone.
-
@Critias77 Parents may know that their child may someday become involved in behavior they disapprove of, but that doesn't mean that they hate their child when they act against this misbehavior, nor does it mean they are "thick as a brick". Lastly, how is whether or not God exists (in this film) linked to his personality? The film clearly shows he exists, regardless of whether he is benevolent towards all or not.
-
@Hawkalina First, I just want to say I'm talking about the movie, not the existence or lack thereof in reality of God. "If he's not open-minded, he's not all-loving". In this film, God makes no claim of being all loving, he simply states that he wants his people freed from oppression, and takes measures to make this happen. That said, being intolerant of the beliefs of the Egyptians does not suggest he is ignorant or hateful, nor that he didn't predict that other religions would arise.
-
@Critias77 Yes, God should be open-minded, cos if he created the universe and gave people free will, then he shoulda expected something like other gods appearing. If he's not open-minded, then he's not all-loving, he's not wise and benevolent, and basically he's either thick as a brick, or doesn't exist at all. So by your own argument, you are proving God's non-existence. This is what happened with tha Babel Fish...
-
@Hawkalina "God is not open-minded and doesn't accept people with other religions" So God, who is well aware that he created the universe, should be open-minded about the existence of other gods who are said to have done the same thing? Especially when the pharaoh (in the film) is planning to slaughter all of the Hebrews even after God has sent forth 9 plagues clearly demonstrating his power and his will.
Hey! For those that want me to send this to them, please send me an inbox message with your email address and what song you'd like! Thanks in advance!
