Great alternative to squats for leg development and explosive starts, without the stress on the spine. The high box is measured when the athlete is on tip-toes on the back leg, and the top of the quad on the "up" leg is parallel to the ground. Can do like normal step-ups, or can be done with both feet starting on the box, and lowering one leg under control until the toes touch the ground lightly (imagine touching an egg on the floor and not breaking the shell) and then returning back to the top of the box.
